From Tom Brake, our local MP
"You may remember that back in February, London’s Labour Mayor announced plans to merge Sutton’s police force with those of Bromley and Croydon, putting the policing of these 3 boroughs under the responsibility of one Commander.
I am very worried about this proposed merger.
If it goes ahead, it will inevitably lead to resources being dragged away from Sutton to higher-crime areas like Croydon, risking our status as one of the safest boroughs in London.
That's why I'm organising a public meeting with the former Deputy Assistant Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, Brian Paddick, so that residents can learn about the impact that this merger could have on our area.
Date: Tuesday 17th April
Venue: Salvation Army Hall, 31 Green Wrythe Lane, Carshalton, SM5 2DS
Please do attend and feel free to bring along other people who might be interested.
Crime is rising across the rest of London, and here in Sutton, there has been a sharp rise in moped crime since January. This merger really could not have come at a worse time!
But there is still time for the Mayor to re-think his proposal -- so please do come along to the meeting, learn more about the plans and have your voice heard.
Hope to see you there

PS. If you're unable to come to the meeting, please email me with any questions you would like to ask and I will do my best to get as many answered as possible.
